Company Selected For PACeHR State-Wide Community EHR Adoption Project

AUSTIN, TX — Michael Q. Stearns, an industry leader in the development and implementation of electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PM) solutions, announced today they have been selected as one of two EHR vendors chosen from a group of fourteen candidates to participate in Arizona's Purchasing & Assistance Collaborative for Electronic Health Records (PACeHR) program.

PACeHR was formed to accelerate EHR adoption by small and medium-sized medical practices in Arizona. The evaluation panel, including 16 clinicians, took vendors through a six month vetting process that addressed numerous areas including cost, support, training, ease of use and the company's ability to meet the developing meaningful use requirements. The PACeHR program is well positioned to mirror and execute the goals of the Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers (HITRECs) as defined by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

Michael Q. Stearns was selected in part because of its CCHIT certification, including specialty certifications in Child Health and Cardiovascular Medicine, high ratings on objective evaluations performed by the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians, its large user base, and its academically oriented physician leadership.

Support for PACeHR's start-up was provided by Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Medicaid Transformation Grant award. Membership and administrative fees, grants and ARRA stimulus funds will provide sustainability for PACeHR operations and growth.
